Handcrafted Miniature Five Book Set - De Materia Medica

The De Materia Medica is a dollhouse miniature book based on De Materia Medica, a herbal treatise written and illuminated in Constantinople in the mid 10th century.

This doll house miniature book contains 535 pages in five volumes each measuring 1 3/16 inches high by 7/8 inch wide by 5/16 inch thick.

Volumes I, II and III contain herbal plant information and illustrations. Volume IV contains animal and tree information. Volume V contains oil/ointment, drug and poison information and illustrations.

The pages are printed on parchment paper. The books are constructed using techniques the artist has developed for miniature books.
